Any Search and Rescue organization has a need for volunteers of differing skills and not all involve going out in the field participating in a search or rescue; if you do not want to be out in the field do not think this means we do not need you. We have a need for a wide range of skill sets ranging from the office to technical rescues in the field and if you can only offer them seasonally that's okay too.

The requirement of any volunteer is to be able to give up their free time to help with the locating and recovery of others, more often than not we are called out at inconvenient times and at short notice. As some tasks can last many hours and many days we need volunteers available at all times of the day so if you are not available through the night then we can always make use of you through the day.

In exchange for your free time, we can offer you a broad spectrum of training courses including

  • First Aid
  • Avalanche Training
  • Equipment Use (e.g. transceiver, GPS, Radio).
  • Navigation Skills
  • All PEP courses (e.g. GSAR, Rope Rescue, Organized Avalanche etc.)

We hold a training session every Thursday evening from 19:30 till 21:30. For those of you who want to attend courses, especially where our time or cost is involved (e.g. PEP courses), we would expect you to be regular attendees of these sessions.
